Martin Egerton at the House of Lords

Statistical specialist, Martin Egerton, was invited to an inaugural meeting at the House of Lords of Manchester University’s School of Mathematics Alumni in June.

The group met for a private tour of the Houses of Parliament and a drinks reception in the House of Lords. This was followed by an interesting discussion with Lord Sharkey, who had arranged the event, on how to encourage the development of mathematical skills within society. Lord Sharkey had been instrumental in securing a posthumous royal pardon for the mathematical genius Alan Turing in 2013.

Martin is shown below in conversation with Professor Ralph Stohr at the reception.
